You Still Need A Marriage License to Get Married

One thing you'll have to do on your own within 90 days prior to your wedding date is to obtain a California marriage license. This can be done at the San Francisco County Clerk's office by booking an appointment here. In addition, You can go to any County Clerk's Office in California to book a reservation to obtain the marriage license. Something closer to where you live might be more convenient than coming to San Francisco to get your marriage license. What many brides and grooms do is try to schedule their appointment at San Francisco City Hall to get their marriage license on the same day as their private wedding ceremony. If you want to do the same day, Please allow 30 minutes minimum between these things. We actually suggest that you get your marriage license an hour before your City Hall private civil ceremony, but this is not required.
